Okay, I’m not going to lie. I swore blind that I would never post a picture online of my naked pregnant belly. Not a chance. However, I consider this to be in the public interest if it means that more of us can escape stretch marks! I know it might seem vain and I salute women who are proud of their post-partum bodies, but I’m worried about the aesthetic impact that pregnancy is going to have on my body, and hate the idea of stretch marks.
So, when I came upon the opportunity to try out an anti stretch mark pack from Secret Saviours, I jumped at the chance! Included in the Secret Saviours Anti Strech Mark Pack is one Anti Stretch Mark Band, one 125ml bottle of day gel and one 125ml bottle of night cream. The band is covered in seemingly randomly placed pads which work to spread stresses across the body in order to make it harder for stretch marks to form in the skin.
I suppose at this point I should go back to that bump shot I had sworn I would never take…here it is! I’m 22 weeks in this picture. As yet, there’s no sign of any stretch marks (I have very sensitive skin so any lines you can see are from my over-bump jeans). I’m not really sure when stretch marks are supposed to start, but Secret Saviours recommend using their anti stretch mark regime from weeks 12-14 until birth for optimum results.
I started off by trying out the Day Gel. As per the instructions, the gel leaves a tacky feeling on the skin to enable to Support Band pads to do their thing. I did feel the need to wash my hands straight away as they felt all sticky, but I was quite disappointed to do this as the gel smells so gorgeous! Then I put the Support Band on. It fitted quite snugly (as I suppose it ought to!) and felt nice and supportive. I wear lots of over-the-bump trousers and find them really comfortable so wearing the band felt quite similar to that, just a little more supportive. It was really easy to work out which size band I needed; I just measured around my bump at belly button height, then referred to the size guide on the Secret Saviours website.
I must admit, by about 6pm the band started to feel a bit restrictive so I decided to take it off for the evening. Hubby thought it made my tummy look weird as the band pads leave an almost leopard-print-esque pattern on the skin, but this fades quickly. Like the day gel, the night cream smells fabulous and feels lovely on the skin too.
I’m looking forward to continuing to use the Secret Saviours Anti Stretch Mark Pack and promise to keep you updated on my stretch mark progress (or hopefully lack thereof)!
