Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.
Last week, we made the most of our final week of the summer holiday and had plenty of family days out. On Monday we revisited Fairfield Farm to do some more blueberry picking. When we got home, we decided to bake some blueberry muffins (although they were more fairy cake sized!) and M took the lead. I snapped this photo as she was doing the ‘scoop and slide’ (if your toddler is an ‘I Can Cook’ fan, you’ll know what I’m talking about!) to put the mixture into the cake cases.
I was really impressed with how much more capable M was with the baking, compared to the last time we baked together a couple of months ago. I think we need to do this more often! In fact, we ended up making some more of these muffins together on Wednesday, as they were so delicious. If you’d like to see more of our baking and find a link to the gluten-free, dairy-free recipe that we used, then you can read about our blueberry muffin baking, here.
I think we had almost all of our lunches over the past week in either pub or picnic form! With a definite emphasis on picnic. Saturday was no different as we headed off to High Lodge, Thetford Forest and enjoyed a picnic on the lawn there.
Of course we had to visit the play area, which has these excellent wide slides, which the girls love to slide down together. I think B truly believes that she is three like M, and you can see from this photograph how much she’s enjoying the prospect of going down the slide with her.
This week, M starts back at preschool and Matthew starts his new job today, so it’s back into routine for us. Things will be a little different though, as M will be attending preschool five mornings per week. Wish me luck getting her there for 9am; I’ve been struggling to get her to the afternoon sessions on time!
