Living Arrows 23/52 {2019}

June 10, 2019

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

Last week was the first week back at ‘school’ – Matthew was back to work and M was at preschool for three afternoons. I think the switch back to routine made all of us tired, although B was probably tired mostly because she keeps insisting on waking up far too early in the morning for my liking!

This week’s photographs were taken on Sunday. We went out to Buxton to have a picnic at a little spot by the Bure Valley Steam Railway. We took a ride on the steam train at Easter and M often still talks about it. We spotted this picnic spot while we were sitting on the train, so we thought we’d have our lunch there today.

We couldn’t have picked a better place to have lunch. The sky was absolutely beautiful and after we had finished eating, we took a short walk along the footpath through the fields opposite.

B is now insisting on walking more and more often. We need to get her some proper shoes really, as these are for cruising, but her feet are so little that I’m not sure I’ll be able to find any to fit. These ones are a size or two too big for her, but because they have a well-elasticated heel and good strap, they’re fitting her quite well. I’m not sure ‘proper’ shoes would stay on!

As for M, her personality is continuing to grow! She has recently been insisting on this Fraggle-like hair style, but it looks tidier than when her hair is loose, so I’m going with it!

This week we’re sticking with routine until Friday, when we’re off to the zoo for a visit with M’s preschool. Siblings and parents are actively encouraged to go along, and I think M is really looking forward to me and B being there with her, amongst her preschool friends. Hopefully the wet weather that’s forecast for this week will be out of the way by then, and we’ll have blue skies and sunshine again!

A weekly photo diary of our daughters' lives, at one and three years old. This week, B is insisting on walking, and M is insisting on an interesting hairstyle!

    Your photos are beautiful! A and T are so tired with the back to school routine – and I’m not much better. It’s exhausting isn’t it?! x

      The first week is so hard! It’s much easier once we’re all back in the swing of things. I hope you’ve found the second week easier x
