Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.
Last week was been up and down just like the weather — we were stuck inside, bored, during the rain (although of course we still ventured out to the library, rushing through downpours in our waterproofs!), then out enjoying the sunshine at the end of the weekend.
M’s photograph was taken on Friday on the walk back from nursery. As you can see, she had her face painted while she was there. It’s the first time she’s ever had her face painted, and she was chuffed to bits! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile and pose quite like this for a photograph.
B’s photograph shows her getting stuck into our Tiddler tuff spot activity from last week. She was completely in her element, sat in the middle of the tuff spot, playing with the rice.
B has made huge amounts of progress in the past week. She’s becoming so much more confident and involved in play and conversations. She’s also walking more and more. I’ve been saying for a few weeks that once she’s able to stand up independently, her walking will take off. Well, that’s exactly what has happened! She’s also added ‘backpack’ to her vocabulary of ‘mama’, ‘dada’ and ‘snack’, probably because M insists on wearing her backpack every time we go anywhere!
The Wonder Weeks app took me by surprise last week as it started referring to B as a toddler, rather than a baby. I’m not sure I’m ready to not have a baby in my life any longer, but with her progress this week, it’s undeniable that she’s making the transition into toddlerhood.
