Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.
Last week was been a mixture of lazy times and trips out. Mostly because B seems to benefit from having two naps per day, but she’ll only do this if she’s on me, or in the car. This has resulted in a lot of time sitting around on the sofa or in the chair in her nursery, with poor M installed in front of the television to keep her occupied. By Friday, I’d decided that we needed to blow away the cobwebs and get out in the sunshine, so we drove to the beach just to spend an hour walking along the promenade before coming home again.
B’s photograph was taken on Monday at my parents’ house. B is wanting to be more and more involved in whatever it is that M’s doing, so she was delighted to share the chair that M has claimed when we visit grandma and grandpa. I think this desire to get in on the action has also prompted B to get more mobile. As the week progressed, she went from standing more and more confidently, to lifting one leg and lowering it again, to finally taking three completely independent steps on Mother’s Day. I’m so proud of her although I think I might have my work cut out with two fully mobile children under the age of three!
As for M, she definitely benefits from having time outside, so the whole staying-in-so-B-can-nap thing hasn’t been ideal for her. So sometimes, something has to give and B has to have a turn going out during her nap time so that M can get some much-needed playtime outside. On Wednesday, we went to the park with one of M’s little friends. She had a great time. This is definitely something that we need to do more!
