Living Arrows 10/52 {2019}

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

Last week threw a bit of a curveball at us, but a good one. Towards the end of last year, we heard that M wouldn’t have a place at our chosen preschool until September, despite being eligible to join in February. Then on Wednesday, I had a phone call completely out of the blue, to say that a place had become available.

M and I went along the next day for a settling in session. She had an absolute whale of a time and stayed for almost two hours; she didn’t want to leave! She’s spoken of little else since, and can’t wait until the summer term, when she’s due to start three afternoons per week.

M grinning through the window of a play house.

M’s photograph was taken on Monday, when we went shopping and happened to walk past a toy shop, which had this play house outside. As you can see, M was thrilled to try it out!

B continues to be a mixed bag sleep-wise. She slept through the night once or twice last week, but on the other nights, she woke several times wanting milk. Despite her first birthday coming up at the end of the week, and her eating plenty of solid food, she still feeds regularly during the day and, it would seem, at night too! I keep telling myself that I’ll sleep again one day!

B smiling at the camera.

B is in that wonderful stage of learning to walk. She’s able to push along a walker now, which she’s really grown in confidence with over the past week, and she stood up unaided for the first time over the weekend. It’s lovely watching her learn and of course in true B fashion, she thinks the whole thing is hilarious, so there’s been lots of laughter.

I keep saying it, but I really can’t believe that she’s turning one this week. My baby is growing up!

A weekly photo diary of our daughters' lives at two and a half years and 11 months old. This week, M has a taster session at nursery, and B is learning to walk.

That’s brilliant news about the preschool place ! I’m sure M will have a great time. You will sleep again one day, it just probably doesn’t feel like it at the moment, B looks so smiley and happy in this weeks photo x #livingarrows

B is always smiley, so at least the lack of napping and consistent sleeping through the night isn’t having too much of a negative impact, on her at least! x

My Daisy was a great sleeper in the first year then it went to pot. Hopefully it’s the opposite way around for you and B!

Oh gosh I hope so! It is gradually improving but I think my body is finding the lack of consistency difficult at the moment!

That’s fab news that M has got a pre-school place earlier than expected, and so lovely that she seemed to enjoy it so much at the session she went to! x #LivingArrows

She loved it and can’t wait to start! Hopefully she’ll enjoy it just as much when I’m not there.

Wow one so soon! The time really does fly! Wonderful news that M enjoyed pre-school so much. Iris won’t be starting for at least another 18 months but it’s something i’m already worrying about x

I think we are lucky that our nearest preschool is so well thought of. We haven’t really had to put too much thought into it! x

Ahhh happy birthday to B for this week – it flies by doesn’t it? My son refused to sleep through until he was around eighteen months and it looks like the baby will be just the same, like you I’m hoping sleep kicks in soon!! Glad M got a place at pre-school, such an exciting time and SO grown up!

I can’t imagine leaving M to be looked after by someone other than her daddy or grandparents, so I think that might be a bit difficult for me to deal with to start, but I know she’s going to have such a wonderful time there.

That’s fab news about preschool, and great to hear that M enjoyed her settling in session. I hope the sleep gets better soon – I think it’s more frustrating when you know they can sleep through but they don’t do it all the time! Mind you, neither of mine slept through until they were two and a half (and Gabe still often doesn’t) so I hope you have better luck than me! #LivingArrows

I’m just trying to go with the sleep thing and hope for the best! She’ll sleep eventually, I’m sure.

Your baby’s definitely growing up. The first year (or years I must say) feels like it goes too quick. I wish they can stay little for longer.

Time does seem to be flying by! It’s such a joy watching them both grow.

Thats great news about the preschool. She really does look very happy in the wendy house. It sounds like B is coming on leaps and bounds and will be causing around the front room before you know it x

I probably won’t know what to do with myself while she’s there! She’s so looking forward to it – I hope the reality meets her expectations x
