Living Arrows {2018} 39/53

September 24, 2018

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

This week, I’ve chosen just one photograph, with both of the girls in it. It’s a bit of a cheat as I know they should have one each really, but I just love it. Most of the time, I think M sees B as a bit of a hindrance and a barrier to her quality time with mummy, so I was really surprised when she asked to have a cuddle with B on the sofa. I grabbed my phone and took this quick snap before the moment passed!

B adores her big sister. She looks at her with so much love, even when she’s about to be given a rather aggressive squeeze or smack around the head under the cover of, “I want to cuddle B!” So it was nice to see M reciprocating some of that affection, for a change! I do wish the Wonder Weeks app continued on past the first 10 leaps, as I’m sure M is in the middle of one at the moment. She seems extra emotional, which she’s expressing by being extra loving on the one hand, and a little demon on the other! Or maybe she’s just being a two year old.

Speaking of leaps, the Wonder Weeks have confirmed that she is smack bang in the middle of one, and gosh, don’t I know it, sleep-wise. She’s waking at least twice, but more often three or even four times in the night, and I’m finding it really draining. I know it’s making me have less patience with Ms behaviour, too. Lots of deep breaths needed! I must just keep reminding myself that any behaviour or sleepless night is temporary.

It’s my birthday this week, so hopefully they’ll be kind to me and B will allow me to get some sleep!

They really do look like they adore each other – and yeah, I think that’s typical two year old really! x

Aww, they are so cute together. Toby was exactly the same when Gabe was born – he didn’t always want much to do with Gabe but when he did it was adorable 🙂 I hope you had a lovely birthday x #LivingArrows
