Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.
Last week, we made the most of Matthew’s last full week off before he needs to get properly back in work mode ahead of the new school year. We’ve been to the Dinosaur Park not once, but twice, and have been trawling garden centres for pots, plants and stone chippings as we’re giving the front of our house a little makeover.
We don’t have a front garden, as such, just a little bit of space between the pavement and front door. It’s in need of some TLC so we’re tidying it up and planning to have the front door repainted in the next month or so. I’ve just read this back and realised how mundane it sounds, but it’s been quite fun really, and will make us feel a little bit uplifted every time we arrive home.
This week’s photo of M was taken at the Dinosaur Park. We met up with a friend of mine who has two children with the same age gap as M and B, born around the same time (we met at pregnancy yoga classes first time around) and it’s so lovely to have someone else who just gets it.
In this photo, M insisted on giving her little friend a hug when it was time to say goodbye, and you can see how happy she is to be getting a hug back! So cute.
B’s photo was taken while she was having a little daddy-daughter time. Most of the time, B is with me as I provide the milk, and Matthew ends up chasing around after M. So it’s important that B has some one-on-one time with her daddy. I love this photo as it shows what a brilliant time she’s having. Matthew’s t-shirt is grubby from transporting bags of stone chippings for the garden, on his shoulder. He’s not usually that unkempt!
This week, we’ve got a few family things planned, but on the whole, Matthew will be working and I’ll be looking after the girls. I guess it will be a warm up for the week after when he’s properly back to work!
