I’ve made some super cheap, super easy Easter nests ahead of Easter weekend this weekend, so I thought I’d share them with you! They’re gluten free too, which if you’re gluten free you’ll know that it’s rare to find something that’s both gluten free and cheap!
100g bar of milk chocolate (I used Sainsbury’s Basics – cheap and cheerful!)
50g gluten free cornflakes (I used Sainsbury’s Free From)
One 90g bag of Cadbury’s mini eggs.
1. Break up the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and melt over a bain marie (put a little boiling water in the bottom of a small saucepan, simmer, then place the heatproof bowl of chocolate over it, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water). This will take around 3-4 minutes. Keep stirring the chocolate so that it doesn’t burn.
3. Spoon the cornflake and chocolate mixture into standard cake cases. Use a teaspoon to poke the mixture into nest shapes.
4. Finish by adding a couple of mini eggs to each nest, then pop them in the fridge to set.
5. Eat the remaining mini eggs left in the packet while you wait!
