#Blogtober Day 6: My favourite birthday present ever!

This is an easy one. My favourite birthday present ever is…

…a pregnancy test!

Last year, on my thirty-second birthday, hubby and I were doing some shopping and popped into Boots (I forget the main purpose). While we were there, I asked if we could buy a pregnancy test. My period was due anytime that weekend and as we had been trying, I wanted to take a test.

Now, this may not seem like a particularly momentous occasion but the previous month (we had only just started trying, but I was  obsessed) hubby wouldn’t let me buy a pregnancy test, telling me it was a waste of money and I’d know whether I was pregnant when I got my period.

What a meanie!

So I was quite excited that he’d agreed we could purchase one. I don’t know why, but it felt like too big a purchase for me to make the decision on my own. Silly, huh? But the great thing about birthdays is that hubby thinks someone should be kept happy (and therefore get their own way!) on their birthday.

Despite the fact that my period was imminent and I could have waited to see if it turned up, I jumped out of bed early the next morning and took the test. I left it on the counter in the bathroom and got back into bed and chatted to hubby. I was quite relaxed about it really as I had no expectation. In fact, I was so engrossed in the conversation we were having (I forget what it was about now; probably to do with some story on the BBC News app) that I forgot all about the test.

Imagine my surprise when the test turned out to be positive! I still remember the feeling of disbelief, excitement and fear all rolled into one.

Not a bad birthday present really, hey?!

What an amazing present! I still remember my first test. I knew I was pregnant, sore boobs etc but the feelings you get when it is positive are just as you described. Fear was my biggest as we weren’t actually trying for a baby! #Blogtober16

Eek! To be honest I didn’t really feel any different at that stage, but because we were trying I was second-guessing everything!

Aww lovely birthday present x I remember doing my last pregnancy test at the ripe young age of 44 and thinking that maybe my lack of period was the menopause coming early. I won’t tell you my reaction when I found out it was positive…hes’ a gorgeous little six year old now and I’m so glad he made a late addition to my family x #blogtober16
