Little M has a pretty steady bedtime routine. It seems to be a little later than most children’s, but it works for us. We’ve been fans of Aveeno Baby since they first sent us some samples from their range at the end of last year, so we were delighted when they offered to send us some new additions to their range. For the past couple of weeks, they’ve become firm part of Little M’s bedtime routine.
We usually have dinner together as a family between 5:30 and 6:30pm. Hubby and I have always said that we think it’s important to eat together, and fortunately his work is only a 20 minute commute away, so we’re able to achieve this almost every night.
After dinner, we head to the living room and play with Little M and read her a story. Then hubby goes upstairs at about 7pm to run her bath. Little M loves bath time, and we love Aveeno Baby Daily Care Baby Hair and Body Wash. It’s so gentle, it can be used daily (which is ideal as we bathe Little M every evening) and it leaves her hair so beautifully soft. I’ve actually noticed a real difference in Little M’s hair since we’ve been using it. It’s so silky!
Once she’s out of the bath, it’s time for a fresh nappy, having her hair brushed and her teeth cleaned. I say cleaned; Little M prefers to suck on the toothbrush, but we try our best! Hubby’s been using Aveeno Baby Daily Care Baby Moisturising Lotion on Little M’s skin and it smells absolutely divine. Not only that, but her dry skin patches have almost completely disappeared. I actually think that this moisturiser is even better than the Aveeno Baby Emollient Cream that we’d been using before, at least for Little M’s skin.
At this point, I take over by bringing Little M her milk. We sit together in the chair and have that special quiet time while she drinks her bottle. Hubby joins us and we share what our favourite thing that day has been. I’m looking forward to the time that Little M can tell us her favourite thing!
Once that’s done, Little M has a cuddle with bunny, before getting into her sleeping bag and having a last kiss and cuddle with me. This often involves a lot of sitting up, then snuggling her head into my chest or shoulder. I really cherish these moments as I know they won’t last forever!
We then have one last kiss before Little M goes down in her cot, usually by eight o’clock.
That’s our routine, and it works for us. What does your bedtime routine look like?
Disclosure: We were sent the above samples of Aveeno Baby free of charge. However, all opinions are my own.
